The perks of being a grad student...

Ah, one of the nicest little perks of being an art student is the access to amazing camera gear and facilities. This weekend I checked out a 24mm tilt-shift lens and shot tried my hand at making 'minaturized' NYC street scenes..here are just a few..

Week recap

Huzzah! School has officially begun and I am officially an MFA grad student at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.
My eyes are burning at the moment as I work on a take-home exam on photo history, but what harm can a little procrastination do?

The following photos are from my dear friend Raj's birthday party for her little girl, Rachael, who just turned the big 1 (one.) I first met Raj almost three years ago when I photographed her wedding and we've become very dear friends in the years following. And now her daughter is walking around and just being all shades of adorable.
I'm just so very glad to have been able to be there, documenting so many memorable moments in Raj's life.
Enough of the mush....onto the cute stuff...

Photos of the Day - Chinatown

"Chinatown, it's a different scene
There are people there, they are so obscene
If you see what I mean
Then they've sold you the dream
Down in chinatown" ~ Thin Lizzy

Photo of the Day - Coney Island

Even though it doesn't rightly look like it outside today, it IS officially the first Friday of Summer. Cheers, Beers and plenty of sun to y'all.

Photo of the Day - Central Park

I'm still working on a homework assignment on color due Wednesday for the photo class I'm taking at School of Visual Arts. Unfortunately, I'm limited to how far I can travel during my lunchbreak to snap photos. This, of course, leads to many, many, many photos taken at Central Park. Just a few photos I took during lunch today on what turned out to be an absolutely gorgeous February day.

At the Met with Jette

This weekend was quite the busy, busy. On Saturday my dearest good friend Jette came to visit for a grand Upper East Side tour and what's a proper tour of the UES without a stop at the Met?
Unfortunately/Fortunately the weather was rather frightful...but it did make for some great Noir-inspired shots.

Photo of the Day: Brooklyn Bridge with Matt

During the summer, Matt and I embarked on several photo excursions,  the most ambitious/exhausting was our trip down to the Brooklyn Bridge at 3 a.m.

Matt, being the jolly good sport that he always is helped me shoot the nearly empty bridge until the sun peaked out amongst the skyscrapers, fending off morning joggers and early bird tourists as I worked.  :-)
